When thinking of the '57 Chevy, what do you think of most? A childhood memory? A car you had in the past?  The one that got away? When you hear '57 Chevy, what immeidately comes to mind?

1. That the '57 was overrated, compared to the '55. If it hadn't been for the fins (last year for the vertical fin) and the introduction of the 283 I think the '55 with it's egg crate grill would still be the most popular car. The 283 made a world of difference in ’57 ( the introduction of the 327 in ’62 shook the galaxy) as the car moved beyond transportation.

I remember the front and rear motor mounts being better than the three point that replaced them. I liked the flexible frame that would twist like a spring on launch with a BBC. I remember how light the car was compared to a ’65 Chevy with it’s full perimeter frame and the same 283 that shipped with a ’57, but now it barely moved the car; relegating it back to daily transportation for mom with the power slide transmission (with the 409 horse 409 or the 425 horse new and improved "oranger than orange" 396 that was a different story).

2. Ah, a '55 fan! Have a project '55 hardtop myself, but always have loved the '57. Yeah, the 283 made a big difference, but I also like the '57 fins, and the '57 gauge cluster over the 55-56 unit. That and the '57 Bel Air/Two-Ten steering wheel is more attractive than the '55-'56 one. Neither is as nice as the '58-'60 Impala steering wheel. Have one of those for the '55.

3. It was my fast car (a four door) it only cost me two hundred dollars ($200). I ender up with two more. I love everything about the 57chevy. I think that is one of the best cars chevy ever built. I also like the 55-56 chevy, but love my 57chevy.
