We're finally going to pick up the Shoestring Stroker 383 from the dyno shop. That engine was a low-buck build up to show how to make great power for not a lot of money. It ended up at 425.8 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque. The engine is going in Project Homewrecker, the '72 LT1 Corvette Stingray that's been an ongoing project in Super Chevy over the course of the last year or so. What really stinks is the fact that it's cold as can be here, which makes the idea of swinging the engine into the car completely unappealing. Plus there is snow in the forcast, which means even when we get it in the car I won't be able to drive it for quite some time. Once the engine transplant is done, I'm taking the car to a chassis dyno. I really want to see how much different the figure is versus when it was on the engine dyno. My guess is 10-12 percent loss (car still has the factory 4-speed). We'll upload photos once the swap is done.
