Are our hot rods getting too low with wheels too large?

When did hot rodders adopt the lowrider look for their cars? As far as I'm concerned the current trend of 20-inch wheels and tires with a body slammed on the ground is too Tijuana. I understand we want to lower our cars because it looks better and can improve handling, and larger wheels look better than stock 14s, but some people are throwing good taste to the trash bin. Technology is great, but how far is too far. Just because your air suspension allows you lower your car, that doesn't mean you should display it on the ground. I like to drink Scotch, but I don't guzzle it a gallon at a time.

I agree completly.... lowriders are lowriders, muscle cars arent lowriders. there is looking good and looking ridiculas. 22's on a 70 chelvelle looks like a hot wheels car. while they are fun to play with they still look silly on the street. but i guess if a person wants to build their car that way they have the right too. but i dont want to see it in Super Chevy.

2. No muscle car should have wheels bigger than 19-inches. PERIOD!

The cars just don't look right with enormous wheels and little tiny sidewalls. Those wheel wells were designed for wheels with some meaty tires on them (60-70 series).

3. You know me, I like low cars. However I would rather be hung by the neck till dead if I put wheels any larger than 17 on any of my rides. Unless it's an off road 4X4 truck.

Now, when i bring my camaro to shows, I do let the air all the way out of the bags, it just looks better with it's pavement plowing stance.

4. Anything over 17" looks like either
1) a Detroit pimp owns the car
2) or a drug dealer
3) or a pro athlete
4) or anybody with a lot of disposable income. They have a lot of class but it's all low.

6. every body here is different from others and that is a good thing. If all people were same thing, It would be a boring world. Everybody here still love Chevy because of the different styles for years.Any thing they can do as long its a Chevy for me!

7. hi, i live in chicago. we have a ton of full size cars with 22's 24's jacked to the sky driving around. it's nuts putting $8000 worth of rims and tires on a $2500 car. every winter you have a ton of people selling wheels after they trash them on the potholes.

8. more is not always better, I agree with you guys. Big rims, low profile tires just don't look right on muscle cars.
