I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the newest member of the Super Chevy team.
My name is Mike Ficacci and I guess I could be referred to as the new "young gun" around the office. There are only two problems with that: 1.) at 22 years old, I would be considered middle aged at most race tracks and 2.) most youngsters are fit and ready for anything, while I am stumpy and get my five o'clock shadow at 3.
But on a more serious side of things, I am happy to be here and hope to be a positive contributor to the magazine/website. I have been in love with Chevrolets since I can remember, as I am sure most of you can agree. My roots are in drag racing and that is where my "experience" (if you want to call it that) comes from. I have done a stint in go-karts but at the dragstrip is where I belong. I have been building cars and engines for NHRA Stock and Super Stock eliminator for six years now and have enjoyed every minute of it. There is nothing like driving or watching a car that you have worked on leaving the starting line of the quarter mile at 8,000 rpm with the front wheels four feet in the air.
Before anything though, I am a fan. I am a fan of speed, curves, power, lines, and everything else car related. Whether it is a C6 taking laps at Daytona, or a Chevy Nomad crusing down the street, there is no way to explain the rush that overcomes you as that V8 goes rumbling by. We all have our favorite cars, or favorite engines, but there is one thing we all have in common and that is the love of automobiles.
In closing, I hope to be posting on the site as much as possible and will do everything I can to be entertaining and informative. Look for my blogs and stories in the up coming months.
