The start of the '08 Sprint Cup Season!

This Sunday is the big day as the NASCAR Sprint Cup season will kick-off in Daytona, Florida for the 50th running of the Daytona 500. The Car of Tomorrow is in full effect for this season and early indicators may lean toward Dale Jr. (88) and his new Hendrick Motorsports ride as a possible favorite.

Dale Jr. has already proven his Amp Energy / National Guard sponsored Chevrolet is up to the task winning the First Gatorade Duel Race at Daytona International Speedway this week. Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson (all Hendrick teammates) will start within the top eight spots on Sunday afternoon with Jimmie Johnson sitting in the familiar pole position. I would lay my money on any of these guys, but cannot count out last years winner Kevin Harvick either. Any predictions?

1. Great race. As long as a Camry did not win, I was somewhat satisfied. Too bad Juan Mon decided to boot Clint Boyer like he does every time he gets a bit of a run. Would have been nice to see Childress repeat. Rumor has it, Toyota was making 15 horsepower over the rest of the field and Kyle Busch moving forward up between two train of cars was proof enough for me.

2. I went to a Redneck New Year Party on Sunday and had Tony Stewart in the pool. On the last lap, I just couldn't root for him, even though winning would have put some greenbacks in my pocket.

The Dodges looked strong.
