I may be alone on this, but like every other Sunday, I sit here watching the pace laps slowly roll by, and often wonder what would happen if that Corvette Pace Car stayed out there and took the green flag. Bear with me. Let’s figure that at Daytona, a NASCAR Sprint car makes around 500 horsepower and the Corvette Z06 makes roughly 505. A Cup car weights 3400 with a driver. Z06’s roll it at about 3150 plus a 200 pound driver like my fat ass puts them in the same boat. Now, I could even begin to compare aerodynamics of the two but I am bored watching the rain and decided to blog. I would venture to guess that the Z06 would lead 4 laps at Daytona until the tires absolutely disintegrated. We are taking about a car easily capable of 185 and not to mention how hard it would pull in the jet stream made by those family sedans. What do you guys think? Am I crazy?
