Due to forces outside of my control, I have been forced to put my 30-foot Gold Rush Trailer on air. Why is that you ask? Well…believe it or not, I can’t get the trailer out of my driveway with a 3600lb. drag car in the back. The geometry of my driveway/lawn compared to the street is just not conducive to the appliction. At the Hot Rod and Restoration Show this weekend, I voiced my problem to the guys over at Air Ride Technologies and they were more than receptive.
We came up with a sound theory for mounting air bags to the axel and provide the added clearance I need. I swear, stupid problems such as this seem to lurk around me. At Maple Grove Raceway two years ago, we were parked off on the lawn and got a 30,000lb. Motorhome and trailer stuck. There really is nothing cooler than seeing one of these things just sit there and spin the 4 rear tires. Long story short, we employed two Duramax Dualies to come and pull us out. I really wish I took a picture of this. B
But anyway, I ordered the parts that we hope will work but ya’ know what things are going to look like when you get under there and start disassembling. I need approximately 3-inches of added left to move the trailer three feet, only to put it back down to stock height. But hey, aren’t problems such as this the spice of life? Ha.
