There was a lot of teeth-gnashing and disappointment when the 2008 Super Chevy Show schedule was announced and there were no Florida dates on it. This was not ideal, but something things happen that way.

The big news today is that a deal has been reached to add an event at Gainesville Raceway the weekend of September 19-21. As with all events in 2008, there will be coverage on the pages of Super Chevy magazine.

“We are very pleased to renew our relationship with the Super Chevy Show, and bring this event back to Florida.  With many improvements to the facility now completed, we believe the opportunity exists to make this fall classic better than ever.  The popular demand to bring this show back into the schedule tells us that fans and racers enjoy the unique blend of drag racing, car show, exhibition cars, vendors and car corral, that make this a must see for any automotive enthusiast," says Don Robertson, General Manager, of Gainesville Raceway.

Naturally, the event will include all the racing action from Bracket 1, Bracket 2 and DOT. The Tremec/Super Chevy Magazine True Street class will be run on Saturday for street-legal/closed exhaust cars running DOT-legal tires and yes, you can run both the DOT and True Street classes.

A test & tune is set from noon to 4:00 P.M. on Friday; a Bonus Race on Saturday, and Eliminations at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday.  Nitro Coupes and Jets blast off at 1:00 P.M., Saturday and Sunday.
