I want a new Camaro. That’s no surprise…but as the days roll on and we get closer and closer to the release date, I can’t help but imagine getting into one of these cars and letting it rip down the quarter mile. Hopefully the LS-power plant will be stacked with torque, and leave plenty of room for aftermarket bolt-ons. I have called just about everyone I know in hopes of pulling some strings and getting to the top of the list, but General Motors has been pretty tight-lipped about EVERYTHING concerning the rebirth of this ageless icon.
Spy photos have given us glances at prototypes cruising the streets of Australia and turning laps at the Nurburgring, which, I would kill to get on, especially in a Corvette…for anyone from GM who may be reading. I think GM designers did an awesome job with the styling of the new Camaro, retaining many of the lines and ques from ’69 but also giving it plenty of edge for the 21’s century.
Rumors have been flying concerning the power options available and we expect a meaty 6-cylinder followed by one, if not two, LS-based options comparable to the 375 and 425 horse Hemi’s that will available in the Challenger. LS-2, LS-3, LS-475, I don’t really care, as long as we can smoke the SRT and Mustang GT whenever need be…which is always.
What do you guys think/want/”know” about the power plants available in the Camaro? Who wants a big block? Besides me. Who wants a high rise manifold and Holley 850? Besides me. If GM gave you a brand spankin’ new 2010 Camaro without a power plant, what would you stick in there?
