This Saturday at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park I ventured off to the Night of Thrills. I figured it would be a good time for my three little ones who range in age from 2-4 years old. Having never been to a drag race, monster truck rally, or any motorsports event for that matter, I figured they would really enjoy the festivities (I knew I would).
Do you remember the first time your dad took you to the drag strip? Major League Ballpark? or any professional event for the first time? The smell of nitro burning, that patch of the greenest grass you had ever laid eyes on, or the best dirty water dog on the planet. Many of these memories come to mind, reminding me of the days when everything was ok in the world, no worries, no bills, just being a kid in America!
While I hope my children have enjoyed their first experience at a professional event including the likes of Monster Trucks (Grave Digger, Batman, Monster Mutt, etc.) jumping junk cars, campers, and trucks, as well as the likes of Jet Cars, Top Fuelers, and some famous cartoon characters running around (Spiderman, Dora, Ninja Turtles, etc.). Yeah, I'm getting a little carried away here, but not only did this bring out the good time feelings for my children - It also reminded me that I still have the kid within myself. Do you still have the kid in you?
