Making horsepower is just about everyones goal, be it 6.0 liter V8's, 2.0 liter 4-cylinders, .28 cc 2-cycle motors, or the human body itself. Over the last few years, I have taken up the hobby of gas powered remote control cars. The thing that first attracted me was a video on youtube of some dude screaming one of these things up and down his block. I didn't realize at first, but the more I watched it, the more I realized the engine was making some strange noises.
The noise I was hearing sounded much like a drag car pulling gears down the quarter mile. But that's impossible. A three-speed transmission in a car that's a little over a foot long? Sure enough, I bought one of these cars a week later, broke in the engine, and made a few bombing runs down the extremely narrow street in front of my house. 0 to 30 mph went by in the blink of an eye and the tiny car immediately ran out of rpm's at 46,000 and change!! It sat "on the chip" for what seemed like a half a second, and proceeded to pull second and third gear like clockwork. Since that day, I have been hooked. If you find yourself with nothing to do and want to run an 1/8th scale car on 30% nitromethane, visit your local hobby shop and take a test drive. You will not be disappointed. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6TzH0oJfeHg
