While at the Super Chevy Show this past weekend in Joliet, an automotive titan made a sudden appearance...
I love stories like this, getting to tell about the sighting of a really cool car as if you'd seen the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot.
Coming back to the hotel Saturday night after a grueling day at the show, I'm rolling slowly through the parking lot when I spotted the back end of a C6 Corvette. Nothing spectacular on the surface I know, but the wheels caught my attention, even in the dim light of the parking lot. I started scratching my head thinking "Those are pretty neat looking wheels, never seen a Corvette with them"
Well, suffice to say, some of the tires synapses in my brain started to fire again, and as I was pulling by I noticed a little badge in the bottom left corner of the rear valence (which, a note to GM deisgners, needs to be more prominent on the rear, where it's at now, shall I say, sucks?) that said ZR1! Slamming on the brakes I hopped out of my rental car and started circling the equivalent of automotive viagra for car guys.
The car was part of the GM test fleet, as evidenced by the "GM Captured Test Fleet" sticker in the window. Never did see the car at the show, so I can only assume it was on its way to the home nest in Bowling Green. Whoever was driving the car, my admiration for the job you have, and my sarcastic loathing! Why can't I have a job like that?!
