How many miles on your car?

200,000 Miles and Still Going

This morning on my way into work, an interesting thing happened...

I've been approaching this mark for a few weeks now, but on my way in this morning, I noticed my odometer rolling over to 199,999, and as I pulled into the parking lot, it read 200,000.8

I've owned my truck since 2003, when I bought it from a friend with 103k on the clock. A roller cam conversion, numerous cuts and scrapes, and a few cuss words later, it's been a little over five years and 97,000 miles of commuting to college, crossing the state of Florida numerous times, and the occasional burnout of life with my '92 Silverado.

Right now future plans are to slowly start replacing rebuilding the truck in my spare time (the body's in great shape) so I can put another 200k on the odometer!

1. See? American cars and trucks just don't last. I hate when I hear this crap from neighbors who've bought Japanese.

2. Yes, older model American cars do out last some import models. Although, now with modern cars, imports, domestics I feel that they break down quicker and need experts to handle it. So, I am waiting for the day I am able to buy the 1986 Chevy Silverado, with over 200k on the odometer, from my dad.
