While at the SC Show in Joliet, a unique car showed up in the car corral...

When Chevrolet/GM came out withthe new Chevelle/Malibu/A-body platform in the fall of 1963, it pretty much sounded the horn that the full size cars' days as the performance leaders were numbered. When the '65 Z16 came out, you had the same horsepower as the Impala but in a lighter and better handling car. But even though the full size cars had lost their spot as top dog in the Chevrolet lineup, you could still get a land yacht with serious power through the '69 model year.

This car is a '69 SS427 Impala. While the L72 wasn't available, the hydraulic cam version of the motor was, and combined with the SS badges and other sporty add ons made for a good looking car. 69 was the last year for the SS option on the full size line. In '70 they were nothing but luxo barges.

Anyone out there got any good stories about a late 60s full size Chevy? Let's hear your story!
