100 Years of GM: A Belated Congratulations

Will there be a General Motors in 2108?

I messed up last week. We've been so busy getting the next issue of Super Chevy out that I didn't have a chance to blog on September 16 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of General Motors. I hang my head in shame.

I guess the question is where will GM be in 2108? If the smog nazis and green freaks have their way, we'll all be riding bicycles and have a quality of life akin to your average third-world country in 20 years. Thank the politicians who give these people credibility.

But this is not about that. This is a cyber raise of the glass to the company we all love, the one that gave us Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, and Tri-Fives, Cadillacs from CTS to Eldorado, from the Buick Riviera and Grand Sport to the GSX, the W30 Oldsmobile, the GTO, the electric starter—you name it. GM has made everyone's life better.

As we head into the meat of the 21st century, we have the amazing Pontiac G8 GT, the ZR1 Corvette and Camaro SS to drive now or in the next few months. Go out and burn some precious fossil fuels in your favorite Chevy. Think about all the joy General Motors has spread over the last 100 years. Thanks, everybody. And here's to another 100.
