Chevrolet Silverado more Fuel Efficient than Nissan Titan

Even with gas prices falling like a rock, keeping fuel economy in mind isn't a bad thing. Lately Chevy has been under attack from Foreign companies on the full size truck front. But check out what I found online this morning...

First off, I don't drive a new Chevy truck. I have a '92 Silverado 2WD longbed with a 350 and 700-R4 that has served me since 2003. To date, I have almost 202,000 miles on the clock.

Anyway, I saw this link this morning on MSN.com, talking about which truck is more fuel efficient, pitting the Nissan Titan against the Chevy Silverado. While many might think the Titan has better economy, those people would be WRONG! The Titan, with its 5.6L DOHC V-8, gets an average of 13 MPG in the city, and 17 MPG on the highway. Compare that to the Silverado's, with its 5.3L LS-based OHV V-8, 14 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway average. And that's equivalent supercab shortbed trucks too, so it's an apples to apples compairson. What's even funnier is the Nissan has a 5-speed automatic, while the Silverado uses the good old 4L60E 4-speed automatic that's been the workhorse of the truck line going back to the 80s!

The good old pushrod V-8 comes out on top, again!
