So let's say you have a car with 14-inch wheels. You like it that way and have no intention of upgrading to 17-, 18- or 19-inch wheels. But you realize the stock brakes are inadequate. At SEMA, we happened across two exciting developments at the Stainless Steel Brakes booth.

These may be the lowest cost disc brakes for your Camaro, Nova and Chevelle

Mike Jonas, the head honcho at SSBC, showed us two wild new kits. The first is the 8-piston JL8 aluminum caliper kit, which fits behind 14x7-inch wheels. It bolts directly to the drum brake spindle, usesthe drum brake hub, comes with 12-inch cross-drilled rotors and uses C5 Corvette brake pads (included in the kit.

The second was a low-buck kit for guys with 14-inch wheels, and works on '67-69 Camaros, '64-72 Chevelles and '68-74 Novas. The 14-inch wheel disc brake kits fits into the stock 14-inch drum brake wheels, bolts to the drum brake spindles, uses full-size GM calipers and there's an application for both power brake and non-power brake applications.
