Right now, there are cars rolling across the auction block at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Event. Running from January 11-18, there will be some pretty cool Chevrolets that will cross the block.
Besides the purchase rights to the first retail production 2010 Camaro coupe, with the proceeds going to the American Heart Society, there are some other notable Bow Ties that will be sold as well. No less than four Yenko Camaros and one Yenko Nova will cross the block. One of the Yenko Camaros is a Daytona Yellow example known as the “Preston and Lawrence Yenko” that is one of only three surviving ’69 models personally sold by the legendary Don Yenko for use in NHRA drag racing. A total of 16 Corvettes will also be up for auction, including a Lyndale Blue ’67 427/435 convertible and a 327/360 fuel-injected ’63 split-window coupe.
For those looking for cars with a different story behind them, then there is something up your alley. Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen fame will be auctioning off his ’56 210 and ’56 Nomad, both of which come with a one-of-a-kind EVH Brand “Wolfgang” guitar. The 210 is a Pro Street car packing a 600-hp 454 big-block, while the Nomad sports a frame-off restoration and a 210-hp 265 small-block. Country music star Alan Jackson has his ’69 Camaro convertible up for sale as well. If you are looking for Chevrolets with NASCAR pedigree, then check out Tony Stewart’s ’07 Monte Carlo cup car (proceeds to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation), and Jeff Gordon’s ’06 Monte Carlo cup car (proceeds to benefit the Hendrick Marrow Program).
Okay, so I know this isn’t a Chevy, but being a history buff, this item is pretty cool in its own right. A 1929 Ford 4-AT-E Tri-motor airplane will cross the block. This Tri-motor is one of a handful left in existence, and was shot at during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese.
Now if I could only find the money to get just one of these hot rods…
