I'm listening online to the auction of all assets of Crane Cams. It's like listening to the funeral of an old friend.
Crane has been in business since the 50s, started by Harvey Crane in the Miami Area. (Harvey Crane hasn't had any involvement with his namesake company since the late 80s). Crane was one of the founding companies of SEMA, and had a long and rich involvement with SEMA until recent years.
I won't get into why the company is being auctioned off, that is a long story. Suffice to say, this one hurts because I grew up around this company, my Dad having worked almost 40 years as the head of advertising and marketing for Crane. I remember as a kid visitng the old Hallandale plant (now demolished) and going through the Daytona plant for years. I even worked in R&D during college.
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see who buys what today. Bottom line though, rest in peace (or pieces as it may be) Crane Cams.
