Probably one of the most well known and historic racetracks int he world, 2009 marks the 100th year that organized racing has been going on at Indianapolis Motor Speedway...

A whole littany of special events are taking place this month celebrating the track's heritage, including a hot air balloon race to commemorate one of hte first events ever held at the track.

Despite the sad state of open wheel racing in America, the Indy 500 still has a romance and glamour all its own. The list of great drivers that have raced on the famous oval reads like a who's who of racing that spans most competitive motorsports. Back in the day, it was normal for several big name Formula One, NASCAR, and other drivers to come and race just at Indy.
