Beer - The Car Guy's Second Fuel

The Importance of Beer in the Automotive Hobby

I snapped htis picture about two months ago on location for a shoot. Today I was looking at it, and started thinking about how much beer has played a role in the lives of car guys...

Now, first off I'll say that all of us know never, I mean NEVER, drink and drive.

Ok, now that we've got that out of the way.

If you honestly think about it, beer does play an important role in the lives of car guys (and car gals for those of you reading this). From attending a car show to working in the garage to just hanging out with our fellow automotive chums, usually there's some cold beer involved somewhere. It's tough to beat a cold malted breverage in the middle of summer, standing around a driveway or garage, talking about cars, women, sports, anything that orbits the universe of our four-wheeled toys.

How often has beer been an ice breaker for a car gathering? How about the stress relief after a hard day of working on the car? Bad day at the track, throw in a beer when everything's done to take the edge off.

And what about the creative genius beer fuels? Yes, we all know the joke about how most embarassing or post-destruction car photos usually started with a case of beer and the words "Hey ya'll, watch this!" But move beyond that to how a beer or two can help get your brain to relax, and help you figure out a solution to problem your car has, or an idea for where to take your car project or how to make it better.

Think about it, without beer, where would our hobby be?
