While looking throught he new Holley catalog I got at the 2009 PRI Show, I discovered this!
I'm blessed (or punnished, take your pick) to own two vehicles eequipped with GM TBI induction. My '92 Silverado and its 350 breath through one, and my '92 Camaro RS originally had a TBI in it with the stock 305, now replaced by the 350 we put together in a previous issue of Super Chevy.
The factory TBI unit is much maligned in some circles, but for a stock engine it does the job alright, and offers many advantages to a carb. For instace, the lack of cylinder washdown by gas from a carb on startup. The 305 I pulled out of the Camaro I sold to a friend for a '57 he was putting back ont he road for his son. When he pulled the heads off to install fresh gaskets, he called to tell me the cylinder walls still had the cross hatching on them from when the block was machined at the factory. That was with 207k miles on the clock too. If the engine had a carb, I doubt the cylinders would've been in that good a shape.
Anyway, these Holley units are cool. They bolt right on in place of the stock TBI, and offer 200+ CFM increase over stock (the Holley unit measures 670 CFM). It's C.A.R.B. certified so even the California guys can use it with no trouble, and uses the stock throttle linkage system. Check it out here:
