The new lead-free urethane base coat/clear coat system is formulated to create an outstanding finish with minimal drying time. It includes 40 stunning base coat colors, plus a line of primers, sealers, clear coats, reducers, hardeners, and specialty additives to deliver the professional results. The Summit Racing 2-Stage Paint System is also available in special formulations to meet stricter, local VOC requirements.

Base Coats

Summit Racing 2-Stage System Base Coat Paints are formulated to add vivid color, dramatic depth, excellent gloss, and great metallic control to any paint project. They mix in a 2:1 ratio with Summit 2-Stage System Base Coat Reducer, plus one ounce of Medium Clear Coat Hardener. Flash time between coats is just minutes, and it's dry and ready for clear coat in less than an hour.

Clear Coats

Summit Racing 2-Stage Paint System Clear Coats are high-solid urethanes that provide excellent gloss, leveling, blending, and buffing characteristics. Summit Racing offers two versions: Spot/Panel Clear Coat for quick-drying application on small areas and Overall Clear Coat for protecting an entire project vehicle. Both mix in a convenient 4:1 ratio with Summit Racing's 2-Stage System Clear Coat Hardeners.

Summit Racing also offers a high-solids urethane clear coat and hardener formulas rated at just 2.1 VOC with the same great gloss, leveling, blending, and buffing characteristics.

Primers and Sealers

The Summit Racing 2-Stage Paint System includes a variety of primers and sealers, including Etching Primer, 2K HS Urethane Primer, 2.1 VOC 1K High-Build Primer, 2.1 VOC 2K High-Build DTM Primer, Acrylic Primer Surfacer, Epoxy Primer, and 2K Sealer.

Summit Racing 2-Stage System Etching Primer mixes on a 1:1 basis with the reducer and adheres directly to steel, aluminum, fiberglass, body filler, and galvanized steel. Great for quick spot/panel repairs, it increases paint adhesion, protects against corrosion, and fills in minor surface imperfections.

2K HS High-Build Urethane Primer is designed to go on over etching primers, OE finishes, fiberglass, sheet molding compounds, and refinish lacquers, enamels, and urethanes. It mixes in a 4:1 ratio with hardener, requires a quick, two-hour dry time, and is easy to sand.

The Summit Racing 2-Stage Paint System also includes two different low-VOC primers. The 2.1 VOC 1K High-Build Primer is a single-component primer that's great for quick spot repairs on etched metal, fiberglass, sheet molding compounds, or OE finishes. It mixes in a 1:1 ratio with acetone, requires 2-3 coats, and dries in just 30 minutes. The 2.1 VOC 2K High-Build Primer is a two-component primer that can be applied directly to small areas of bare metal, as well as OE finishes, fiberglass, sheet molding compounds, and refinish lacquers, enamels, and urethanes. It mixes in a 4:1 ratio with hardener, requires 2-3 wet coats, and dries in 90 minutes.

Summit Racing Primer Surfacers are fast filling, quick drying, and easy to sand after just 20 minutes. They mix 1:1 with acetone (below 80*F) or low-VOC reducer (above 80*F) and require 2-3 wet coats for priming over etched metals, OE finishes, fiberglass, sheet molding compounds, and refinish lacquers, enamels, and urethanes. They also have great feather edge characteristics and color holdout.

For extreme durability, extended service life, and easy application, Summit Racing offers an epoxy primer. Summit Racing 2-Stage Paint System Epoxy Primer is designed for bare metal, fiberglass, body filler, or sheet molding compounds. It mixes in a 3:1:1 ratio with the epoxy hardener and basecoat reducer and, unlike most epoxy primers, requires no induction time. It's ready for top coat as soon as 30 minutes after application.

Summit Racing's 2-Stage System 2K Sealer adds extra protection and creates a solid foundation for uniform color. The two-component, 4.2 VOC enamel sealers mix 4:1 with Medium or Slow Clear Coat Hardener and can be blended to create a full range of grayscale tones to best match your top coat.
