Mick Jagger was apparently correct. Sometimes you do get what you need. No sooner do I write a column lamenting the fact that we've not run a first-gen Monte Carlo in the magazine that I go to Super Chevy in Norwalk, Ohio, where the First Generation Monte Carlo Club is having its Eastern Regional meet. There were some 34 in attendance, but the one that caught my eye was Eli Brown's Copper Metallic ’70.
Under the hood is a 71mm Borg-Warner turbo feeding a homebuilt 385-cube small-block. Interestingly, his grandfather bought the car new and gave it to Eli when he was 14. I shot it for a car feature and plan on running very soon.
In the same column, I noted I wanted to feature a disco era Nova and I received an e-mail from someone with a totally tricked out ’77. I'm in the process of arranging a shoot so stay tuned.
