The countdown to the Project American Heroes Chevelle auction at Barrett-Jackson's Orange County, California, event is ticking ever-faster. Our LSA-powered/TCI six-speed automatic trans-equipped ’70 is scheduled to go across the block during prime time on Saturday night, June 26. Here is is being unloaded off the Intercity Transport truck at our Irvine, California, offices.
According to publisher Ed Zinke, who took these photos, the car is even more spectacular in person than it was in the magazine. According to Mr. Zinke, the Chevelle is "absolutely stunning." Team Super Chevy is deeply indebted to Bill Jelinek and the crew at Route 66 Motorsports, who built the Chevelle. Also, millions of thanks go out to all the aftermarket companies that contributed parts for this vehicle. Remember, all proceeds from the auction go directly to The Armed Forces Foundation. Super Chevy Magazine has donated $630,000 over the last two years to the Armed Forces Foundation from the sale of the first two Project American Heroes projects. Thanks also to the folks at Barrett-Jackson, who have never taken a penny of commission from the sale of any of the Project American Heroes cars so all proceeds can go directly to this worthy cause.
