The best part of my job is getting to hang out with some of the legendary characters in Chevrolet history. Most recently, at the 2011 Super Chevy Show season opener at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida, I got to spend some quality time with Mr. Motion himself, Joel Rosen. In this photo, I am interviewing him for an upcoming video for superchevy.com, where we discuss his latest venture, the fifth-gen Camaro Motion supercars built by Redline Motorsports for sale through Denooyer Chevrolet.
I first met Rosen some 21 years ago when I was an associate editor for MuscleCars magazine and Vette magazine. I drove out to Motion Performance in Baldwin, Long Island, for a lengthy interview where we discussed the rich history of his shop.
Both Baldwin Chevrolet and that shop on "the Island" are history, but Rosen is still active in the musclecar hobby. The green and gold car you see here is Motion Performance 2011 Camaro No. 001 and it's his own personal ride. It's an SC Phase III Supercharged monster, the top of the new Motion line, with an 800-horse blown LS7 427. It's filled inside and out with his own personal touches.
