Thank God for my 15-inch Wheels!

Smaller versus Larger Wheels and Tires

It's almost time for me to buy tires for my faitful Silverado...

Having an older truck, you tend to make more "preflight" inspections than with a new(er) vehicle. Especially with 230k miles showing on the odometer. Well, over the weekend I noticed my tires are looking fairly worn and not far from needing replacement.

So, I started poking around on the internet to price some new rubber. Man are prices insane! Fortunately I've still got my factory 15-inch wheels, which helps fight off high tire prices. Usually I can get away for about $65, installed, per wheel/tire.

For the guys out there with 18, 19, and 20-inch wheels, no such luck. just doing some cursory pricing showed a minimum price of about $105 bucks! And that's before installation, balancing, old tire disposal, and all the usual BS state fees and taxed.

Just goes to show, sometimes smaller is better!
