The High Cost of Racing

Race Gas Prices Skyrocketing

While at this past weekend's SC Show at Palm Beach, I snapped this pic of the race gas pumps...

Almost $11 for a gallon of 100-octane?! Thankfully for drag racers their cars don't burn that much fuel each run. But still, with the way gas prices are continuing to climb and the nightmares from 2007 we thought were gone wreak havoc on our wallets, at some point even the guys running the 1/8 and 1/4 mile are gonna feel the pinch, beyond the gas burned towing their cars to the track.

Gas prices are quickly becoming a hot political topic again these days. But unlike 2007, when everyone was ignorantly blaming then President G.W. Bush for the high prices, seems like now the unrest in the middle east combined with the closing of two key refineries earlier this year have really caused us problems...along with the same oil speculators who drove prices up through the roof five years ago.

Let's all hope we see the same dramatic price collapse soon like we did back in 2008, when gas fell below $2-a-gallon again.

But this still isn't enough to get me to buy a hybrid!!!
