Johnathan Hillstrand, captain of the Time Bandit fishing boat on Discovery Channel's hit TV series "Deadliest Catch," is also a dyed-in-the-wool Chevy fanatic. He had this custom '55 Chevy built by Slicks Garage in Palmetto, Florida.
The car, which features a monster 'Time Bandit' plastered across the grille, is powered by a Weiand blown 502 crate engine. It's a tribute to the '55 from the movies "American Graffiti" and "Two-Lane Blacktop." His father took him and his brother to see "Graffiti" when they were kids. It was the first drive-in movie they ever saw and it clearly left an indelible impression. The biggest difference between Hillstrand's '55 and the movie car is that movie car was a 150 and his car is a Bel Air. You can follow the adventures of Hillstrand and the rest of the crew on the all-new season of "Deadliest Catch" Tuesdays on the Discovery Channel. Stay tuned for a full story about the car here on SuperChevy.com and in the August issue of Super Chevy. In the meantime, you can check out a video of the car below doing a burnout.
