Just two weeks after taking ownership of the manual ZL1 Camaro, Lingenfelter did what they do best, making slight engine modifications to squeeze additional power out of the car. The LPE-tuned ZL1 featured a Lingenfelter GT9 camshaft; CNC ported cylinder heads; an increased supercharger speed thanks to a 2.3 top pulley and a 5% overdriven bottom pulley; and a custom air intake.
Driven by Johnny Ebert, the Lingenfelter ZL1 ran on VP 109 unleaded race fuel with Nitto NT05R drag radials and CCW drag pack wheels.
"Our team set a goal to be the first 2012 ZL1 in the 10s, and we are very proud to achieve that goal thanks to our diligent LPE engineers and their intimate knowledge of LS engines," said Ken Lingenfelter, owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. "This type of development work at the track is ideal preparation to allow LPE to fine tune our high-performance street packages for customers, and has helped us successfully launch three performance packages for the new ZL1."
Lingenfelter offers three supercharger upgrade packages - producing 630 HP to 700 HP - for the 6.2L ZL1 Camaro engine, delivering substantial improvements over the factory 580 HP and 556 lbs. ft. of torque while maintaining a safe level of boost and supercharger RPM.
