On Friday, we wrote to tell you that the 1999 Chevy Suburban seen in seasons one through four of the hit television series “The Sopranos” was headed to Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas to meet the highest bidder with no reserve. Well, it sold on Saturday for an incredible $110,000. Included in the sale were several authentic screen-used props and production items.
The SUV is the actual vehicle driven by Tony Soprano, portrayed by James Gandolfini. Before he passed away early this year, Gandolfini autographed the driver’s side sun visor with the words “Take Care of My Car.” If you watched “The Sopranos,” you’ll remember it as the automobile Tony drives during the opening credits. The Suburban was utilized in filming until he acquired an Escalade after being promoted to the “boss.”
“What makes this truck so unique is that people recognize it as its own character in the drama series,” said Craig Jackson, CEO and Chairman of Barrett-Jackson. “It’s hard to picture Tony Soprano, one of the most notable television characters in history, not riding through his neighborhood in this maroon Suburban, which is extremely rare and fascinating in the age of modern television.”
