You can be the owner of the Chevy Suburban seen in season one through four of the hit television series “The Sopranos”! Super Chevy editor Jim Campisano, who hails from New Jersey, was excited to pass this news onto all of you.
The 1999 Chevy Suburban is hitting the auction block at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas on September 28 with no reserve price. It is the actual vehicle driven by Tony Soprano, portrayed by James Gandolfini. Before he passed away early this year, Gandolfini autographed the driver’s side sun visor with the words “Take Care of My Car”. If you watched “The Sopranos,” you’ll remember it as the automobile Tony drives during the opening credits. The Suburban was utilized in filming until he acquired an Escalade after being promoted to the “boss”.
“What makes this truck so unique is that people recognize it as its own character in the drama series,” said Craig Jackson, CEO and Chairman of Barrett-Jackson. “It’s hard to picture Tony Soprano, one of the most notable television characters in history, not riding through his neighborhood in this maroon Suburban, which is extremely rare and fascinating in the age of modern television.”
Included with the Suburban in the auction are several authentic screen-used props and production items. Often regarded as the greatest television series of all time, the show aired from 1999 through 2007.
“The 1999 Chevrolet Suburban is not only a standout vehicle in this year’s diverse docket, but is also considered to be an American pop culture monument,” said Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. “We foresee that this unique offering is sure to bring excitement to bidders and car enthusiasts on every level.”
