We were just contacted by Skip Kelley, President of the largest and oldest Corvette club in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Corvettes Association. Anyway Skip told us that he is putting something together that is a bit different to say the least.
"I’ve put together an event to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the first production Corvettes on Sunday June 30th. Basically it’s a gathering for all Corvette owners in Southern Nevada. The various clubs will parade from all corners of Las Vegas to gather for a carshow, picnic, trivia contest, etc. then at noon we’ll have all the Corvettes fire up their motors and rev them for 60 seconds... hence 60 for 60. Kind of like singing happy birthday to themselves. I’ve got all the local clubs participating and noise restrictions waived."—Skip Kelley
More information about the club and this event can be found on the Associations web site.
